An older couple lives across the street from us, a while back we noticed that they would gather their leaves in the fall and burn them. I know the value of leaves as compost in the garden, so I told them We would be more than happy to bring them over to our property.
Now me and my sons periodically go over and collect huge amounts of leaves to use as mulch in our garden, and the neighbors have less work to do and nothing to burn.
This is an opportunity for us to all to build social capital that is rooted in symbiosis. When I calculate the time spent with my sons, the character development experience, and the value that goes into my garden, the physical labor is negligible.
I appreciate these opportunities to help build the future I want to see.
This is the way.
